Elephant Stew

1 large tender elephant
1 truck-load carrots
1 train car-load potatoes
1 wheel barrow-load onions
1 pinch salt
lots of water
1 rabbit, optional

Cut elephant into bite-sized pieces (takes approximately 5 weeks). Cut up carrots, potatoes and onions. Add salt. Place in extra-large pot. Add water until pot is filled. Place over wood fire. Cook approximately 3 weeks or until tender. Serves 3,500 people. If more people are expected, add rabbit.

I found this recipe in an old ward cookbook we have. The contributor was Jan Wilkes.
